Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. The band's heavy, guitar-driven sound has led them to be cited as one of the founders of heavy metal. Their style drew from a wide variety of influences, including blues, psychedelia and folk music.
Jimmy Page was the founder of the band and is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time alongside Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. Robert Plant is regarded as one of the greatest musicians in the history of rock music. Singer Plant enjoyed great success with Led Zeppelin throughout the 1970s and developed a compelling image as the charismatic rock-and-roll front man, similar to his contemporaries, The Who singer Roger Daltrey, Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones and Jim Morrison of the Doors. With his mane of long blond hair and powerful, bare-chested appearance, Plant helped to create the "god of rock and roll" or "rock god" archetype.
John Paul Jones, is an English musician and record producer who formed the band with Page in 1968, he was a session musician and arranger.
John Henry Bonham was an English musician and songwriter, best known as the drummer for the band. Esteemed for his speed, power, fast bass drumming, distinctive sound, and "feel" for the groove, he is regarded by many as the greatest and most influential rock drummer in history. He died, aged 32, in 1980 after drinking too much. Rather than replace Bonham, Led Zeppelin decided to stop playing together as a band.
